A Warm Welcome to Oxford: Esther’s First Impressions

Arriving in Oxford for the first time, Esther, a new Year 12 A-Level student at Cherwell College, admits she was caught off guard by the British weather compared to her home country, Nigeria. “I definitely underestimated the weather here,” she laughs. “But aside from that, Oxford is breathtaking — it has such immense history and culture that it’s almost impossible not to immerse yourself in it.”

Esther joined Cherwell College Oxford during the half-term break and was immediately struck by the warmth of the welcome she received. “It almost feels like family,” she shares. “The environment is very focused and supportive.”

Now settling into college life, Esther is looking forward to starting her lessons, getting into a steady routine, and exploring more of the city. “There are so many opportunities here — it feels like the perfect place to grow, both academically and personally.”
