Freddie’s achievement has been covered by the Oxford Mail
The paper reports on his Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award from Cambridge International Education, for the highest mark in the world in Cambridge International A Level History in the June 2025 examinations — the first Cherwell candidate to achieve this in the subject.
We are very proud of him, and it is a pleasure to see the story told beyond our own website.
What the coverage cannot fit is where it began. Freddie came to us from a highly regarded school having lost confidence in his own academic ability. Rather than placing him on the syllabus we happened to teach, we asked which areas of History genuinely interested him, and which examination board would let those interests develop.
He finished with three A* grades and has gone on to read law at UCL.
