Easter Revision

"I took more notes in one week than I had done in the entire year!"

Important Announcement

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians

Ref EASTER 2020

Easter Revision Programme is to go ahead as planned through our Microsoft Teams ‘Virtual Classrooms’. Log-in details will be sent in due course.

As per our email dated 19 March 2020 to all parents of registered students for Easter 2020:

As a precautionary measure, the College will be cancelling accommodation provision for Easter Revision students who are not in need of residential accommodation and are currently safely accommodated elsewhere in the UK or have returned home as a result of the latest news. We kindly ask you to make contact with Finance Office (finance@cherwell-college.co.uk) to notify about your child’s personal circumstances. Where reliance has been placed on the fact that your child can stay at Cherwell College accommodation during the Easter period, we will of course be able to consider and accommodate your child at our boarding house subject to certain conditions (mainly on the basis of good health).

We wish you all good health!

The course

As a result of increasing competition for the limited number of top places, universities are demanding ever-higher grades from applicants. Cherwell College Oxford recognises that students may well require supplementary tuition in order to achieve these grades.

Our Easter Revision Courses have been designed specifically to provide an intensive regime of examination preparation and study skills for those students wishing to achieve the best possible grades in forthcoming public examinations. The course involves intensive tuition comprising: small group and/or individual tuition together with seminars, exam technique and mock examinations.

Exam revision can be challenging, especially with increasing pressures on young people to achieve the high grades required by universities. We recognise these pressures and tailor our courses to each student, working with their own strengths and seeking to improve upon their weaknesses.

Our Easter Revision Courses are intense, personalised, and exam focussed.

We offer the following:

"This course has really boosted my confidence"

In 2020, the College will run both residential and non-residential programmes over the following weeks:

WEEK 1: Monday 30th March - Friday 3rd April 2020

WEEK 2: Monday 6th April - Friday 10th April 2020

WEEK 3: Monday 13th April - Friday 17th April 2020

Please note that not all courses will be taking place on each week. Please contact us for further information about which weeks are available for your subject(s)

Course Information

The course is structured to allow intensive revision in one A Level subject or two GCSE subjects per week. Teaching is provided either in small groups or on one-to-one basis, depending on availability of groups for a particular subject and exam board compatibility. Students taught in small groups follow a 30-hour a week timetable, which incorporates subject-specific tuition and progress tests/mock exams. Students who are taught on one-to-one basis receive 15 hrs of individual subject-specific tuition, in addition to allocated slots for progress tests/mock exams.

Small Group or One-to-One tuition

The majority of revision courses take place in small, subject-specific groups. Individual tuition may be provided as a substitute or in addition to group lessons.
