Humanities and Social Sciences
We have vibrant and diverse Humanities and Social Sciences departments. At Cherwell, we offer a huge variety of subjects, including:

•Creative Writing (as a skills component)
•Government & Politics
•History of Art
The bulk of the teaching in these subjects is done at our main study centre, St George's Mansions, on George Street where students can soak up the intellectual atmosphere of Oxford.
Cathy Spiers - English Tutor
Cathy is a qualified English tutor and experienced A-level examiner. She has previously set questions for OCR examinations. Having taught for over 25 years, Cathy has the experience and passion for English to inspire her students.
Cathy gained a BA (Hons) in English Literature from St Anne's College, University of Oxford.
Cyrus Nayeri - Tutor in Geography
Cyrus is currently reading for his DPhil in Geography at the School of Geography in the University of Oxford. His previous achievements include MSc in Geography at Keble College, Oxford, a PGCE in Geography at Queens College Cambridge and a BA (Hons) in Geography at Jesus College, Oxford.
Luka Katic - Tutor in Psychology
Luka is currently reading for a DPhil in Experimental Psychology from Keble College, University of Oxford, having previously completed his Master’s from the University of Vienna in Cognitive Science.
Paul Craig - Director of Studies and Tutor of Sociology
As well as being our Director of Studies, Paul Craig teaches Sociology at Cherwell College. Paul has studied in Oxford and Keele University gaining a BA (Hons) in History and Sociology and a PGCE.
Paul is a qualified and experienced teacher in History, Sociology, Psychology, Law, Geography, Religious Studies and International Tourism.
Carl Meaney - Tutor of Business
Carl has been awaded both a BA (Hons) and MA from McMaster University. He has also been granted a special MA scholarship and a Doctoral Fellowship by the Canada Council. Carl has also studied at Hertford College, Oxford.
