A day trip to the beautiful city of Bath!

20th February 2018

On Saturday 17th February, Cherwell students travelled to the City of Bath for the day, as part of the Half-Term schedule. The day began with students meeting early for breakfast, followed by a short briefing by the members of staff regarding the trip. Following the conclusion of this, the group began their short walk to the train station, with conversation on the way being dominated by those students who were curious about the City of Bath.

Despite there being slight disruption on the way, the group arrived at Bath, and headed straight towards the City Centre, and the Abbey in particular. As we drew nearer, the surrounding architecture and Georgian influence throughout the City became more apparent. Upon reaching the Abbey, students were impressed with the beauty of the building and its intricate construction. Following this, the group then patiently waited to enter the Roman Baths, and took this chance to get some lovely selfies with the Abbey in the background. When inside, students were intrigued with the complexity of design which could be seen, as well as the techniques used by the Romans when building the site. After our time in the Baths had come to an end, the group was then lead on a short tour of the City to view some of the other famous landmarks. These include The Royal Circus, Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge.

Overall the group had a thoroughly enjoyable time, with many students highlight being the Roman Baths. Conversation for the rest of the journey home, as well as that evening in the boarding house revolved around the day’s excursion.
