A Season of Professorial Talks Begins at Cherwell College

2nd October 2018

Professorial talks are one of the many enrichment opportunities offered by Cherwell College to students.

This season of talks kicked off recently with "The Road to Serfdom in the 21st Century" which discussed topics such as the Magna Carta, the US Constitution, as well as concepts of liberalism and freedom with reference to Locke, Mill, and Isaiah.

The talk also touched on 'The Road to Serfdom' by Friedrich von Hayek, where there is more at stake than economics: dignity, responsibility, individual choice and what really saved Europe post WWII

Finally, students were also posed with questions regarding the Rule of Law, how far it is inclined to illiberalism, and how it can be abused.

As always, we are grateful for the professors who provide these talks, and we can't wait for the rest of the season!
