Students attending the course on a residential basis will be allocated a single or a large shared double study bedroom in either Lady Margaret Hall or Jesus College, a room which would normally be occupied during term by an undergraduate. Jesus College has admitted women undergraduates for a number of years now, so arrangements for students of both sexes are well established.
In addition to the accommodation provided in Jesus College and Lady Margaret Hall, Cherwell will be making available to its Easter course students study bedrooms in its own Halls of Residence near the University Parks and close to its Manor Parks building where teaching takes place. Students opting for, or being allocated, a room in Hall will have breakfast provided there and all other meals will be taken in College (though Cherwell reserve the option to provide dinner in Hall). Where necessary transport to College will be arranged.
For residential students all meals (Breakfast, light Lunch (sandwiches) and Dinner) will be taken in the College. Morning coffee and afternoon tea will also be provided. Catering is organised by the experienced permanent staff of both colleges.
All teaching will take place in rooms within the Colleges, though Cherwell reserves the right to use its own premises should the need arise.
A course supervisor will be resident in the College for the duration of the courses and the Course Directors, Welfare & Accommodation Officer and Course Secretary will be available at Greyfriars during working hours.
As Cherwell is well experienced in catering for the needs of the individual, special arrangements can be made for handicapped students or those requiring special diets e.g. vegetarians.
Students attending the course will be expected to arrive at their assigned College late afternoon on reception day. Once rooms have been allocated there will be a buffet supper at 7pm (for residential students only) and immediately after there will be an introductory talk by the Course Supervisor followed by a meeting with the tutorial staff who, after ushering the student group to their teaching rooms, will usually set preparatory work for the first day of the course.
The course finishes each week at approximately 5pm on the last day. Students undertaking more than one week of the course (in order to study two subjects) and who would like to stay on in Oxford can be accommodated in a Hall of Residence for which a supplementary charge will be made.
