So how is a timetable built around an individual student arranged?

Your academic timetable - a mixture of tutorials, department meetings and practical session (where applicable) will be given to you as you meet with your new tutors. Each student at the College has a Director of Studies who will oversee the whole timetable, ensuring each day is balanced with individual tutorials, group based work and, of course, private study.

As you progress through the College the amount of time you spend in individual tuition in each subject increases. Typically, upper sixth (A2) students spend about four hours a week in each of their three final A-levels, lower sixth (AS) students about three hours per week in each of four subjects. AS and A2 students have at least one two hour Department Meeting every week in each subject, and, where relevant practical sessions in addition. For GCSEs, dependent on the subject two or three hours of individual tuition are usual, with additional group work key to progress.
