What is it like living in a Hall of Residence?
Cherwell's five Halls of Residence offer great opportunities for students to mix socially and, under the guidance of a resident House Mother, to develop the skills necessary for living with others.
Halls are vibrant and the centre for college sport, recreation and social activity. Each has a dining room, where students meet for breakfast and evening meal (lunch accounts are available at the Bistro on the main Greyfriars site). Students either choose to share a study bedroom with just one other student or to have their own room.
The Halls also help build academic skills and self-discipline away from formal tutorials: students can support each other through discussion of private study in the calm of 'quiet time' from 7 until 9pm every weekday evening.
Halls are a great place to live - large and spacious, and conveniently located near to the College's Manor Parks building, with lots to do. Nearby are the shops and cafés of North Parade and Summertown, the Marston Ferry Sports Centre and pool, and the beautiful public space of the University Parks.
The warm, friendly atmosphere in Halls and the close, understanding care of House Mothers mean that students are advised to reserve a room well in advance - they are very popular and fill up quickly.
